North Sydney House

2011 - 2013

The owners of this freestanding house on a steep block in North Sydney – an Artist and a Builder – wanted a seamless connection to the existing Heritage cottage. The solution was a butterfly roof bringing light to the centre of the space whilst allowing high level views to a raised rear garden. The roof form and natural light strategy frees up wall space for hanging Art without compromising outlook. A courtyard at the main living level steps up to a new Art Studio and garden at the back of the site.
