Newtown Terrace

2006

This large former corner store and residence had a lack of private open space and sunlight due to a neighbouring 3 storey apartment block. Past renovations had resulted in extensive but poorly planned and built internal modifications.

The situation allowed a more radical intervention than normally required,  resulting in a spatially complex and interesting home. A new front door entering from the side street allows the former store to be used as a naturally lit gallery space. Unusually for the area a roof terrace was approved allowing private BBQ’s in the sun !

We worked remotely with our client, who lived overseas, to oversee the full scope of design and construction work.
