Haberfield House

2009-2011

The brief for the refurbishment of this heritage federation house in Haberfield was to retain the existing four rooms at the front as bedrooms and reconfigure the rear to better suit the needs of a young family.

The street elevation and garden were restored in accordance with an old photograph the owners had of the house.  A Bathroom, Laundry, Study, and fifth Bedroom with Ensuite were inserted into the rear of the existing volume.

A new Living/Dining pavilion was added in the garden and connected to the existing house by a low slung link containing the Kitchen. The resultant sheltered private north facing courtyard addresses the principle public areas, provides an alternative entertainment space off the kitchen and resolves the geometry of the site.
