Redfern Women’s drop in Centre

The brief, from the Indigenous Land Corporation, was to convert an existing three storey building to suit Mudgin-gal, an organisation that assists indigenous women in times of crisis. The building contains various gathering, educational, counseling, and respite spaces plus an external play area for children, allowing a number of discreet groups to seek essential services.

On a limited budget, a lift was added at the rear of the building, along with modern fire services, stair upgrades, and WC and kitchen facilities on all levels. A high level of security and privacy was also incorporated into the design.
